For public adjusters, claims consultants and restoration estimators
Weather documentation for the claim file, in minutes
Enter an address and a date of loss. AtmosDays pulls the public NOAA and National Weather Service records for that property and those days into one clean PDF you can attach to the claim, with every number's source listed.
Date of loss report
Type the property address and date of loss. You get the hail, wind and tornado reports within 5, 10 or 25 miles, the nearest NOAA station's rain, temperatures and measured gusts, and the National Weather Service warnings that covered the address, as one PDF for the claim file.
Check the date
The report covers 3 days either side of the date of loss and points out when a nearby day had more storm reports, so a date that's off by a day shows up before the carrier finds it.
One place per claim
Add a claim with its claim number, carrier and date of loss. Log inspections and site visits, drop in the loss notice or photos to pick up their dates, and keep the weather for every day of the job.
What's in a date of loss report
- The plain facts first: hail reports near the property on the date of loss and how big, the closest report and its distance, wind reports, the gust and rain measured at the nearest NOAA station, and whether an NWS warning covered the address.
- Day by day for the date of loss and 3 days either side: rain, high and low, peak gust, thunder or hail observed at the station, storm reports nearby and warnings in effect.
- Every NWS watch, warning and advisory for the address, with issue and expiry times.
- Every NOAA Storm Prediction Center report within the distance you pick, with time, size or speed, miles from the property and the reporter's note.
- Your claim number, carrier and policy number on the PDF when you make it from a claim. A spreadsheet (CSV) download too.
What it isn't
AtmosDays documents the weather. It does not file claims, estimate damage, decide what caused damage or judge coverage. A storm report near an address shows storm exposure in the area; it is not proof of damage at the address, so inspect the property. Reports are preliminary public data, not a certified weather record, and the nearest NOAA station can be several miles away. You handle the claim; AtmosDays saves you the hours of pulling the weather.
Where the data comes from
NOAA Storm Prediction Center local storm reports, NOAA NCEI daily station summaries, and National Weather Service watches and warnings from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet archive. All public, all listed on each PDF.
